CLINICAL SIGNIFICANCE
Plasma Transferrin transports iron to the liver and bone marrow. Decreased levels of Transferrin are observed in cases of chronic inflammations or malignancies, mainly hemochromatosis, cirrhosis, or hereditary conditions such as atransferinemia. High transferrin levels are observed in sideropenic anemia.
